[/size]The Italian prince is first in line for the throne. Smart, intelligent and fair, he's going to make a perfect King of Italy some day, but he's willing to give it all up for the pretty little servant girl. They've been lovers for almost a year, meeting in secret and stealing kisses in dark corners. He thinks the World of her, and she of him.
They continue their relationship at Peterhof, but get careless and are discovered by Lord Jaeger, advisor to the King of Germany. Their torrid affair would be none of his concern, if the young Italian prince was not betrothed to the King of Germany's younger sister, the Princess.

The King of Germany was a reckless prince, and a well-known womaniser. At home in Germany, he has many mistresses and there's hardly any members of the female staff that he has not bedded. Unable to bring them all with him, he has since had to make do with his wife since arrive at Peterhof, and he is growing quickly restless.
Lord Jaeger has been his advisor for years, and indeed they grew up together. Immediately he see's the potential here to satisfy his King further. By making the little Italian servant-girl become the King's temporary mistress whilst in Russia, he promises not to tell any of her indiscretions, and forbids her from not only telling, but from seeing her Italian Prince.
The Italian servant-girl will do anything to protect her lover, and hastily she agrees to sleep with the King of Germany. It breaks her heart, but she knows what he risks if their affair is discovered.
Meanwhile, Lord Jaeger flaunts the German Princess under the Italian Prince's nose. They have been betrothed for five years, and have never met. He hopes to tempt the Prince into loving the Princess more, because if he marries her and takes the Italian throne, it will give Germany a lot of influence.
Will the Prince fall for the Princess and forsake his servant-girl? Will she keep her promise and continue to be the German King's mistress? And they say all's fair in love and war?
