common mistakes
there / their / they're
- there - adverb - in or at that place.
- their - pronoun - a form of the possessive case of they used as an attributive adjective, before a noun, eg. their home; their depature.
- they're - contraction of they are, eg: they're singing now.
which / witch
- which - pronoun - what one? eg. which of these do you want? also, used relatively in restrictive and nonrestrictive clauses to represent a specified antecedent, eg: the book, which I read last night, was exciting.
- witch - noun - a person, now especially a woman, who professes or is supposed to practice magic, usually black magic or the black arts
here / hear
- here - adverb - in this place; in this spot or locality, eg: put the pen here.
- hear - verb - to perceive by the ear, eg: did you hear the doorbell? also, to learn by the ear or by being told, or be informed of, eg: to hear news.
where / wear / were
- where - adverb - in or at what place? eg: where is he?
- wear - verb - carry or have on the body or about the person as a covering, equipment, ornament, or the like, eg: to wear a coat, to wear a disguise.
- were - verb - a second person descriptive word, eg: you were wrong.
your / you're
- your - pronoun - a form of the possessive case of you used as an attributive adjective, eg: your jacket is in that closet.
- you're - contraction of you are, eg: you're certain that's right?
